Official snowfall accumulations over approximately the last 20 years for individual storms in Durham may be lower than actual amounts because measurements are only taken once a day and taken late in the afternoon. This may result in compaction of snow and lower amounts than fresh fallen snow or possibly in missed accumulations from melting or sublimation.
